Fiemme 2003
World Championships 2003
The 41st FIS Congress in Prague in the June 1998, gave to Val di Fiemme a second victory, with the second assignment of the World Championships of Nordic Ski. After this great glory, Val di Fiemme decided to institute an official OC, presenting it during the 42nd FIS Congress in Melbourne in the May 2000. It was born NORDIC SKI WM - Val di Fiemme 2003 srl.
After the great first Championships hosted in 2003, the OC of Val di Fiemme, decided to do more and to improve still more the event.
From the 18th February to the 1st March, Val di Fiemme hosted his second world edition, showing its abilities and making known that the success of an event is the result of a team work. The effort was recompensed by the presence of 247.745 spectators.
The two stadiums used for the competition remained, logically, those used for the World Championships 1991. However, both the stadiums needed some works of construction and renewal, following the FIS rules. In the cross country stadium in Lago di Tesero, some technical facilities were realized, in order to follow also the requests of the Municipality of Tesero, owner of the stadium, for its future management. Therefore some changes occurred on the tracks; renewal of the snow producing system and on the lightning one; extension of the parking area and last, but not least, the construction of new building very important for such an event, as like meeting rooms, tribune, dressing rooms, waxing rooms, first aid, timekeeping tower, bar and restaurant, race office, and others. The ski jumping stadium in Predazzo, on the other side, underwent important renovation works, including the enhancement and modernization of the hills in compliance with the new regulations. The FIS regulations envisaged in this sense the modification of the landing profiles, both for the K90 and K120 hills. Other renovations works were made on the landing strips, completely modified; a new drainage system was realized. The two launching pads were also modified with new sideboards, and the snow covering system and irrigation system for summer jumps were enhanced. Five new cabins were installed for TV commentators and the building was totally renovated according to new regulations. Parking and service areas were also realized, together with the enhanced works for the plant for an adequate illumination.

The opportunity to host the Nordic Ski World Championships was too important for Val di Fiemme and Trentino and could not be under valuated. For this reason it was necessary to have a specific staff for the Press office. Newspower took this assignment and with a staff formed by four people, and more than 95 during the event, was care of all the communication activities, strengthen the relationship with the Italian and foreign press.

The role of the marketing sector, this time completely internal followed, not only had the classical tasks to follow the television and commercial rights, but for the first time followed also other initiatives and projects. The main tasks regarded TV and Media, IBC, website group, Fiemme Advertising and accreditation. But the real new activity was that of the school project, launched with the slogan "Sport is a school of life", involving the schools of the region, so that the pupils could directly live an unforgettable experience that would make them grow not only for the sporting point of view, but also from the cultural, historical and environmental one.
