On February and March 2013, Val di Fiemme will host the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships
Race venues and the Nordic Ski Fiemme OC were intensely tested in 2012 Pre-worlds season
Val di Fiemme already housed the WCh in 2003 and 1991
Opening ceremony to be hold in Trento with international performers
In exactly 12 months, 366 days to be precise as year 2012 is a leap year, Italy’s Val di Fiemme inside beautiful Dolomites area will be hosting the 2013 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. From 20th February until 3rd March, world’s best cross country skiers and ski jumpers will be competing on the Italian snow and the Nordic Ski Fiemme 2013 OC looks forward to it. ‘We’re definitely satisfied of this Pre-worlds season’, OC president Pietro De Godenz recently claimed in an interview held after Tour de Ski finals, Women’s and Men’s Ski Jumping World Cup and Nordic Combined World Cup hosted in Val di Fiemme between January and February this year. ‘Our goal was to positively impress the FIS Board and all the events turned out thoroughly positive’.
Ten years after the successful 2003 World Championships in Val di Fiemme, the revamped XC Stadium in Lago di Tesero and the Ski Jumping Arena in Predazzo, will be staging 12 days of spectacular sport events, and after the 2012 Pre-Worlds races the venues might be considered officially ready, along with the organising team and the many volunteers who will be joining the World event with great enthusiasm.
New generation and low carbon emission facilities, multi-purpose structures and a deep sense of hospitality are peculiar aspects Val di Fiemme is about to offer in 2013, confirming the Trentino area and the entire country among world’s best locations for Nordic sports
In 2003 Val di Fiemme received the UNI EN ISO 14001 certification, and all the future events will be environmentally friendly events. Furthermore, the alpine valley has been observing the world of disability with extreme care for years, and for this reason the Nordic Ski Fiemme OC is working hard to obtain an EU Disability Access Certificate that will make the 2013 Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme the first Nordic world event without any barriers.
The 2013 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships opening ceremony will take place in the city of Trento and some renowned international artists such as Goran Bregovic and (possibly) Andrea Bocelli and Sting are on the guest list.
